The key questions of natural (white) hydrogen: “Where? Why? Who? How? And how much?”
The existence of natural, white, gold or geological hydrogen is dawning on many people. After the recent hype and onset of reality related to green hydrogen, white hydrogen is the next “pile-in” colour the in the hydrogen rainbow. But is the enthusiasm justified? Can, or will, natural hydrogen make a material impact on decarbonisation and the global energy system? If so, who will be the winners and where will they strike gold? And the geological conundrum: how was it / is it produced and how much is down there? And the economic and environmental realities: how much will it cost and how CO2 intensive is it? After this short presentation perhaps you will be left with more questions than answers. But your eyes and mind will certainly be wider open to the current status of natural hydrogen development.
