K2-CO₂ and Cardinal Glass Industries have joined forces in a pioneering initiative to revolutionize carbon capture in glass manufacturing. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in reducing industrial emissions, with a target of capturing 95% of CO₂ from float glass production—setting a new industry benchmark for sustainability and innovation.
Padova, Italy – K2-CO₂ is proud to announce its partnership with Cardinal Glass Industries, a leading U.S. manufacturer, in an industry-first initiative aiming to deliver an unprecedented 95% CO₂ capture rate in float glass production process, setting a new benchmark in the hard-to-abate glass manufacturing sector.
K2-CO₂ will provide a fully integrated CO₂ capture system, powered by the Hot Potassium Carbonate (HPC) process with its licensor Giammarco Technologies. Leveraging glass manufacturing knowledge, advanced gas pre-treatment methods and turn-key plants experience, the K2-CO₂ system is designed to significantly outperform conventional capture technologies – both in capture rate and cost of ownership.
“This collaboration confirms the industry’s trust in our expertise and the proven advantage of our technology,” said Alessandro Monteforte, co-founder at K2-CO₂. “By enabling seamless integration and targeting such an ambitious capture rate, we’re delivering a solution that outdistances by far any other decarbonization technology applied or even pioneered in this market”, adds Monteforte.
With this partnership, K2-CO₂ confirms its key role in the emerging world of high-performance CO₂ capture plants, providing safe, reliable, and economically optimized solutions for industrial decarbonization. K2-CO2 continues supporting frontrunners like Cardinal Glass Industries by transforming climate commitments into measurable impact
