Future Hydrogen: SANHA-Press Gas & NiroSan Gas “VerifHy-ed”!
)
In the search for a sustainable future, CO₂-neutral, gaseous energy sources are proving to be key players in the cross-sector energy transition. Among these, climate-friendly hydrogen stands out due to its enormous potential to reduce CO₂ emissions. Reliable piping systems are needed for its transport within buildings. Planners, architects, and other construction professionals can now access a new practical database listing products suitable for H₂. SANHA-Press Gas and NiroSan Gas provide two proven and certified piping systems for this purpose.
The Transition to Hydrogen
The transition to hydrogen requires extensive preparations to ensure the technical feasibility, the anticipated climate-friendly outcomes, and the economic viability of this energy carrier. As early as 2020, piping specialist SANHA became the first manufacturer to have several systems successfully tested by the renowned certification body Kiwa for their suitability for hydrogen and hydrogen blends. Both systems have now also been certified as H₂-ready by DBI on behalf of the DVGW.
Inclusion in the DVGW’s VerifHy database now offers planners, building owners, and other stakeholders an additional advantage: they can quickly gain an overview of which systems are suitable for hydrogen transport, eliminating the need for time-consuming research across multiple sources.
About the Systems
SANHA-Press Gas and NiroSan Gas were both specially developed for gas installations. SANHA-Press Gas includes copper press fittings and pipes, while NiroSan Gas is made of high-quality stainless steel 1.4404.
Not only is SANHA-Press Gas capable of handling operating pressures of up to 16 bar for applications such as hydrogen, but NiroSan Gas can even handle up to 40 bar, depending on the dimension. Both systems offer exceptional durability, corrosion resistance, and reliability—qualities essential for the safe transport of hydrogen and hydrogen blends (as well as other gases).
In addition, connecting copper or stainless-steel pipes by pressing ensures time-saving installation.
INFO BOX
What is the DVGW VerifHy Database?
The DVGW VerifHy database serves as a central platform to quickly and conveniently check the hydrogen compatibility of gas networks, including the products, components, and materials used. It provides reliable information on H₂-readiness and plays a key role in laying the foundations for the future conversion of natural gas networks to climate-friendly hydrogen. The database enables efficient and resource-saving transitions and is thus one of the most important technical tools in the hydrogen sector.
