CFRP-Pipe with elastomeric lining
The commonly used pressure tanks, which are lightweight and have a high permissible internal pressure, are often made of carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP). Since this material has low gas tightness, inserts or bladders made of other polymers are sometimes used on the inside. In the case of hydrogen as the medium, this would be a so-called “Type 4 tank.”
The pipe shown here is an example of a simplified tank that could be a possible further development of the tank described above. The use of an elastomeric inner layer offers various significant advantages.
