TotalEnergies awards the FEED project for Aramis CCS to Petrofac

TotalEnergies awards the FEED project for Aramis CCS to Petrofac

The multi-million-dollar front-end-engineering design (FEED) for the CO2 injection platform offshore in the Netherlands, has been awarded by TotalEnergies EP Nederland BV.

This excellent and forward-thinking project, involves the decommissioning of topsides and installation of a new repurposed platform. The platform connects to the Aramis CO2 distribution network and the Aramis project is a brilliant collaboration between TotalEnergies, Shell, Energie Beheer Nederlan (EBN) and finally, Gausine. Altogether, the companies have combined with the aim of making a significant contribution to the energy transition and they will do this through reducing CO2 emissions for hard-to-abate industries, through offering a decarbonisation solution. This solution will take effect by transporting CO2 to depleted offshore gas fields, which are based under the North Sea.

Previously to this, the award of a FEED to Petrofac took place earlier on in 2024 and this project focused on the design of the 32” CO2 trunkline. This included onshore, landfall and offshore sections and it also included the offshore CO distribution hub platform for the Aramis system.

Chief Operating Officer, Energy Transition Projects, Petrofac, John Pearson, commented, “This award demonstrates confidence in our abilities to provide vital engineering and project delivery expertise to projects that span the CCS value chain. This project, associated with the overall Aramis development, is another key component to the Netherlands’ ambitions to capture millions of tonnes of CO2 from industrial emitters in the region. We are immensely proud to be making an important contribution to these ambitions.”
