Burkhard Sommer is currently working as a Principal Systems Architect focusing on low-carbon energy markets, such as offshore CCS, hydrogen, wind energy, and offshore gas production for OneSubsea and SLB. He has 18 years of experience in the offshore energy and automation industry. During his career, he has worked in electrical engineering, systems engineering, functional safety, engineering management, and product management in various roles.
He started his career in Celle, Germany, worked for a couple of years in Brazil, and is currently based at the OneSubsea headquarters in Houston, US.
He was born in a town by the North Sea in Germany. He holds a “Diplom-Ingenieur” (M.Sc.) degree in Electrical Engineering from Leibniz University Hannover and a postgraduate degree in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Texas at Austin.
